Thieves took plenty of things of value when they broke into a northwest Houston couple’s home, but the thing the victims want back the most is their beloved 3-year-old dog, Charlie. The thieves struck at the house on East Copper Village Saturday morning. They stole everything of value, including one of Wes Covington’s autographed guitars. A neighbor reportedly saw the thieves around 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, but didn’t suspect something was wrong. Charlie is described as a male boxer, 75 to 80 pounds; mostly brown (with) white on his face, chest, belly and paws, The neighbor who caught a glimpse of the robbers said they fled “in a small silver or gray car with a rounded front. She also noticed the suspect handling the dog was wearing a yellow glove.
Conroe Fire Department has lost a long-time firefighter. Retired Lt. Tommy Graham, who was with Conroe Fire Department from 1977 until 2003 passed away Friday at the age of 67. Graham was one of the founding members of Conroe Professional Firefighters Association Local 2731.
We reported last week that a Deputy was struck on his motorcycle as he escorted a funeral on FM 1488 and his leg was badly crushed. Well, Deputy Shannon had some complications last week and the doctors had some serious concerns about Deputy Shannon’s crushed leg. We are happy to report that the Doctors were able to get the bleeding under control, and Deputy Shannon will have at least one more surgery this week. We wish him a speedy recovery.
Authorities say a helicopter encountered mechanical problems before making an emergency landing at an elementary school playground in a Modesto, Calif., neighborhood. Neighbors said they said the helicopter was shaking badly as it flew over the playground and said they thought it was going to crash. The aircraft managed to land safely in a grassy area at El Vista Elementary School after nearly hitting trees and a soccer goal. No one was injured. The pilot who wouldn’t give his name to reporters said he started having problems at 800 feet and he had no other place to land.
